FOUR FILAMENTS · THREE OR FOUR PHOTOS

A calibration you'll want to keep.

Print a rounded triangular prism with six returning gradient rows on its three sides and three concentric color rings around four pure center patches on its two-layer top. Its 146 samples record how your four filaments combine.

Open the file as a project in Snapmaker Orca. Choose your four physical filament colors and compatible profiles in slots F1–F4; the mixed colors update automatically. Keep the saved size, orientation, layer height and mixing settings, then slice the plate.

The included settings use PLA on a Snapmaker U1 with 0.4 mm nozzles. The starting estimate is 3h 13m 3s and 21.7 g, including the prime tower. Your selected filament profiles may change the estimate.

Full wall samples and a two-layer top

The 88 wall recipes and 58 top recipes are unique within their surface type. Each filament pair shares one row, flowing F1 → F2 → F1, for example. Two rows cover each side, with straight swatch dividers. Both directions appear once, with six distinct intermediate recipes per direction. Wall pure endpoints are sampled in the bottom band. Mixed wall samples cover a full 40-layer cycle. A 4.08 mm band near the bottom retains the constant outer-A / inner-B pairs; its height aligns the nominal 4 mm band to whole layers.

Outer and inner walls have independent patterns across layers. Mixed outer patterns use at most two consecutive layers of one filament; mixed inner patterns allow three. Pure walls remain valid, including a pure outer filament over a different pure inner filament. The relaxed inner patterns preserve the gradient range.

The top covers all twelve directed gradients with four steps each, using steps 1, 3, 4 and 6 from the side gradients. The three continuous rounded triangular rings have similar widths: 3.60, 4.20 and 3.60 mm from outside to inside. The outer and middle gradient rings each contain six gradients, and their sample groups have exchanged positions. The inner ring contains six exact 50/50 mixes, one per unique filament pair; both colored layers contain equal shares of each pair. Four pure-filament patches fill the center, using the same filament on both layers. A 0.30 mm line separates the rings and the outside frame is 2.30 mm wide. Patch areas vary with their ring, while every recipe is measured from the same 7.20 mm² total interior area covering its complete repeating pattern. The F4 frame and thin separators are decorative. The two colored layers sit on a dense foundation.

The prism is approximately 62.28 × 54.84 × 17.28 mm, with rounded corners and a smooth top edge. Thin identification strips span the full 55.56 mm flat length at the top and bottom of each side, excluding the rounded corners. The triangular top uses one equally long strip to identify its bottom edge and reading direction.

Take three or four photos, in any order

  1. Photograph each of the three side faces once. The triangular top photo is optional while top-surface calibration is being optimized; the underside is not a measurement face.
  2. Include the whole face. On a side, keep both thin identification strips visible. If you include the top, show its single strip and all three edges, with a little background around the corners.
  3. Fill most of the photo with the face and keep the thin strips sharp. Use a plain contrasting background and hold the camera approximately perpendicular to the face.
  4. Use even, diffuse light without glare. Keep exposure, white balance and lighting consistent across the photos.

Upload the three side photos, or add the top as a fourth photo, in any order or rotation. iDither reads the markers to identify each face and rejects duplicate or unreadable faces. Name the calibration and enter the same F1–F4 colors you selected for printing.

Your photos and calibration data are stored privately on the server. The small .iDither file restores the calibration after clearing browser storage or on another device. Existing cube calibration reference files remain usable.

Photo calibration reflects the camera, lighting and print settings used. Software checks and synthetic image tests are separate from physical print and real-camera validation.
